What to bring on your hunt
GEAR
-
Clothing
Our weather varies from one extreme to another. Please check the weather for southern Wisconsin a week in advance and plan accordingly. Hunting starts before sun rise so even on warm weather days it can be chilly in the morning. We recommend dressing in layers so you can stay plenty warm and take off layers if necessary.
Later in the season we recommend a set of bibs and all cold weather clothing in general, hats, gloves, neck gaiters, etc.
We will be hunting rain or shine so keep waterproof clothing in mind as well.
Outer layer should preferably be camo or an earth tone color.
-
Boots
For the most part, we will be on dry ground and dry fields. We will occasionally set up on flooded field spots and other similar circumstances. With that being said, we recommend waterproof boots to ensure your feet staying dry. Waders are not necessary but you are welcome to bring, some use them to ensure complete protection from the mud or water in certain instances
-
Gun and Blind Bag
Canada geese are some of the biggest fowl in the country, so we recommend a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun with plug (only 3 shells in gun)
In your blind bag bring 2 boxes of shells, we recommend between 2 and BB shot for geese. For ducks we recommend 4 - 2 shot, all of which must be non-toxic shot shells.
Hearing and eye protection or sunglasses are not required but our recommended for your own comfort.
